Lost Time Claims Adjuster

Excellent opportunity with an agile company located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. We are a growing competitor in the Workers’ Compensation industry and we are looking for a Lost Time Claims Adjuster who will be responsible for workers’ compensation claims file management, litigation coordination, and providing customer service to our insureds, claimants, and attorneys.

Job Summary

  • Adjust claims according to state specific statutes and regulations
  • Communicate appropriate information to all stakeholders
  • Manage all litigation and settlements on assigned claims
  • Manage customer and agent relationships
  • Manage reporting to all insurance/reinsurance partners
  • Ensure and maintain appropriate licenses or certifications for all states in which claims are being handled.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree
  • North Carolina Adjuster’s License
  • 2+ years experience in claims management
  • Ability to effectively operate a computer with knowledge of MS Office applications

Claims Trainee

Excellent opportunity with an agile company located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. We are a growing competitor in the Workers’ Compensation industry and we are looking for a Claims Trainee who will be responsible for learning the essential functions of adjusting workers’ compensation claims and the basic principles of the industry. The Trainee will learn through training sessions as well as handling an entry level claims desk. The Trainee will be responsible for obtaining a North Carolina Adjusters License within 90 days of being hired with the company.

Job Summary

  • Investigate and handle claims utilizing state specific guidelines
  • Document activities and communicate with clients and injured parties
  • Gather multiple pieces of information and subsequently look at the big picture to create and implement a plan of action
  • Handle medical only claims and some minor claims with lost time and/or impairment benefits
  • Maintain file diaries until resolution
  • Conduct reserve analysis
  • Participate in training and mentoring to learn how to adjust claims
  • Recognize and pursue medical recovery and treatment
  • Participate in Claims Roundtables and Claim Reviews
  • Best Practice Compliance

Job Requirements

  • College degree preferred

Underwriter

We are a growing competitor in the Workers’ Compensation industry and we are looking for an Underwriter to review applications for workers’ compensation insurance and evaluate risk to determine acceptance of writing policies.

Job Summary

  • Participates in risk selection, pricing, and account management
  • Creatively writes profitable business
  •  Uses multiple tools, including pricing models, for appropriate risk selection/pricing and is able to communicate rationale for underwriting decisions
  • Exhibits a commitment to finding ways to write business without sacrifice of quality
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring sales plans with targeted agencies by demonstrating effective agency management skills
  • Handles renewal accounts on a timely basis, attaining service timeliness standards and achieving planned renewal retention goals
  • Develops excellent working relationships with all business associates, leading to high level of customer satisfaction including agents, internal customers, and external customers
  • Uses relationship abilities to uncover new business opportunities, retain renewal business and develop long term strategic business relationships
  • Manages book of business through working with agents, loss prevention, and claims. Identifies opportunities for improvement and follow through with recommendations and implementation.

Job Requirements

  • College degree preferred
  • Insurance industry experience and/or 1-3+ years underwriting experience

Medical Bill Review Specialist

Excellent opportunity with an agile company located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. We are a growing competitor in the Workers’ Compensation industry and we are looking for a Medical Bill Review Specialist who will be responsible for reviewing and auditing high level medical bills to ensure correct pricing and timely payment. Additional responsibilities include discount negotiations, addressing provider disputes, requesting refunds, preparing accounting reports, and operating at a level that helps the company manage medical claims costs.

Job Summary

  • Audits and reviews medical codes, diagnoses, operations, and procedures from health records by using appropriate classification systems, standards, and procedures
  • Performs hospital and medical bill reviews for accuracy prior to workers compensation payment
  • Reviews state fee schedule for application to workers compensation medical bills
  • Reviews and processes provider reconsiderations/appeals for additional payment or denial
  • Negotiates direct discounts with providers and applies layers of discounts to medical workers compensation bills through bill scrubbing, state fee schedules, CCI edits and provider partners
  • Assists Bill Processors with daily tasks as needed
  • Understands and executes duplicate payment procedures
  • Requests refunds and maintains refund log as appropriate
  • Compiles information and data from health records and computer systems for use in the evaluation of medical bills
  • Monitors payment of medical bills in accordance to state statutes
  • Compiles and maintains logs, reports, and statistical records, and researches medical bills to locate necessary data
  • Operates computer to process, store, and retrieve medical bills
  • Assists in identification of medical records needed for research, using both manual and computer indexes
  • Assists with provider inquiries via email, fax and phone

Job Requirements

  • 2+ years work experience in a coding role required
  • Appropriately certified, AAPC (American Association of Professional Coders)
  • Ability to make prompt, intelligent decisions based upon detailed analysis of complex issues
  • Ability to work as part a team by accomplishing related results as needed
