Claims Trainee

Excellent opportunity with an agile company located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. We are a growing competitor in the Workers’ Compensation industry and we are looking for a Claims Trainee who will be responsible for learning the essential functions of adjusting workers’ compensation claims and the basic principles of the industry. The Trainee will learn through training sessions as well as handling an entry level claims desk. The Trainee will be responsible for obtaining a North Carolina Adjusters License within 90 days of being hired with the company.

Job Summary

  • Investigate and handle claims utilizing state specific guidelines
  • Document activities and communicate with clients and injured parties
  • Gather multiple pieces of information and subsequently look at the big picture to create and implement a plan of action
  • Handle medical only claims and some minor claims with lost time and/or impairment benefits
  • Maintain file diaries until resolution
  • Conduct reserve analysis
  • Participate in training and mentoring to learn how to adjust claims
  • Recognize and pursue medical recovery and treatment
  • Participate in Claims Roundtables and Claim Reviews
  • Best Practice Compliance

Job Requirements

  • College degree preferred
  • Valid North Carolina Adjuster’s License must be obtained within 90 days of being hired
  • Motivated and enthusiastic individual with a willingness to learn
  • Demonstrated proactive approach to service for both external and internal customers
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Work with a sense of urgency
